Reflection and Vocabulary

Since it is the middle of the semester, and I'm starting to get the hang of things, this would be a good time to reflect. My motivation right now is still thriving and great. I have been doing well in most of my classes. Since, I don't like math, and I'm bad at math, "I have been focusing more in that class so that I will pass on too Math 141, for next semester. My efficacy in math is the greatest, also because I know that learning math and getting a good grade can help me for my future later on. In my other classes, my motivation is steady and ongoing, I get all my homework done, and I haven't missed any classes. I do not think that I need to bolster it, or improve it more, because I know that I'm trying my best right now and if I try to motivate myself more, then I will make myself even more stressed for something I can avoid. What's keeping my motivation strong right now is when I think about my future.  When I think about my future it motivates me because I want to have a successful career that I love getting up in the morning every day to achieve it. What also motivates me is stress and pressure. Stress motivates me because it’s the thing that keeps me avid about certain assignments, if I didn’t feel the feeling of being stressed, I would have an indifference about the assignments. Which would result in me getting bad grades.

Reflection

This past week started off not very stressful but once it got to Wednesday, I had many assignments due on the same day, and I also had to take tests and quizzes, which made the week, become very stressful; however, it was exciting. This week September ended and October started, so hopefully it starts to become colder, which also means Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are around the corner. The plans that I made this week turned out to be very fun, and thrilling. I went to have lunch with friends, and went to Hollywood Horror Nights at Universal. I did follow these plans and I intend to follow my plans for next week also. I was successful in getting my homework done and getting other things done, like washing my car and doing some other errands. I planned to use reading strategies like the SQ3R strategy and annotation skills in my English class and Art History class. I used some study skills for my classes. The study skills that I mainly used were time management skills, note taking skills, and being more focused and concentrated. Although I used these skills, I still need to improve them. Next week, I plan to stay organized with my assignments and turning them correctly and on time and also, getting a good grade on my math test. Finally, the adjustments that I need to make from last week to this week are to take better notes in all my classes, and become better organized with my work. Overall, it was a great week and I look forward to the next week.

Reflection

 Persisting

Persisting is an important element to succeed. If successful people didn't persist, they wouldn't have been successful. Persistence should always be practiced when you feel like your going to fail.  I practice persistence when I feel like I'm not doing well, and feel like I'm going to fail. For example, when I applied to jobs; many of the jobs I applied for never called back, and I was losing hope. For a few days I lost hope and didn't persist, but then I started to apply again, and I finally got a job. If I didn't persist and tried again I would've still been broke, and unemployed. By trying again even after you fail you prove others wrong and the doubts you had about yourself disappear. If it didn't work the first time; change the way you did it, and try again.

Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations

When you truly learn something, you are able to apply it to most of the things in life. For example, I can apply what I learned in Biology to Chemistry, Math, and even English. Being able to relate different subjects to another subject can help you understand it better. Another example can be if an English book like "Brave New World" talks about different biology elements, your apply to apply what you've learned and understand it better.

Striving for Accuracy

They say "Be the best you can be", but they never said what "best" is. What defines "best"? To strive for accuracy, doesn't mean to be perfect, it means to be your best, and not someone else's best. If you are able to better yourself throughout time then you have become better then how you were, and that's a reward in itself. I could've used this in one of my essay's, to change some grammar mistakes.  Nobody's perfect, and if we strive for perfection, we will never achieve satisfaction and happiness.
